The club competes in four leagues, comprising
a variety of rounds or galas, these are The National Swimming League,
Cotswold League, Mini Series and Four Seasons.
The National Swimming League is held nationwide
on the second Saturday of October, November and December each year
and is the highest standard league that the club competes in. We
race in the Western region which is broken down into four divisions,
Premier, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We currently compete in the 2nd division.
Swimmers compete in age groups 11 & Under, 13 & Under, 15
& Under and Open.
The Cotswold League also caters for all ages of
swimmers throughout the club and comprises 4 league rounds held
between January and April, each with 4 teams, resulting in a Final,
larger round. The 'A' final, which we have consitently reached since
joining the league, consists of 8 teams and the atmosphere and close
competition at this particular gala is a highlight of the season
for swimmers and spectators alike. Once again age groups are 11
& Under, 13 & Under, 15 & Under and Open. For the 2006
league we will be calling on the full depth of the squad as league
rules state that swimmers who have swum an individual event in Speedo
League, Western Division 2, or higher, are not eligible for individual
events in the Cotswold League, the same also applies to swimmers
with national qualifying times.
For the younger swimmers in our club there are
further opportunites to compete in the Mini Series and Four Seasons
galas. For the 2005 year we are defending champions in the mini
series and will know if we have achieved this feat for a second
time after the final round, in October. The Mini Series is for swimmers
aged, 10, 11, 12 & 13. The Four seasons is a series fo four
galas held throughout the year for 9, 10, 11 & 12 year old swimmers.
Both of these leagues provide additonal chances for swimmers to
compete and is usually our swimmers' first step into competition
outside of the club, before progressing to the Cotswold and The
National Swimming League teams.
