A squad of swimmers from Clevedon ASC have been invited to compete in the World Youth Friendship Games to be held in Amsterdam at the end of July. Suzi Bowen, Steve Bowen, Ali Feboul, Joe Iles and Chelsie Kirman will represent Clevedon and England in the swimming section of the Games and will be racing against swimmers from as far afield as the USA, Germany, Holland and Moldova!

The World Youth Friendship Games is a Mini Olympics for boys and girls, to be held in Amsterdam and its surroundings, consisting of 8 sports; wrestling, tennis, volleyball, bowling, swimming, basketball, baseball and soccer.

All the swimming will be held on Saturday July 30th and Sunday July 31st in the fantastic Sloterparkbad (50-metre Olympic size pool) in Amsterdam. This pool is also used by the Dutch national team for training and competitions, and is regarded as one of the best pools in The Netherlands.

As well as the swimming, the Clevedon squad will be involved in the opening and closing ceremonies for the games and take part in a variety of social events that have been arranged for the athletes.
