After months of looking into this, and years of
wishing we had a website, it has finally arrived!
Firstly, a big thankyou to Simon Bryant for his
web design services, setting up all the sections on the site and
including much of our initial content. This was all compiled and
handed over with just hours to spare before he set off travelling
around the world, way back in July, so hopefully he can now check
back from the other side of the world and see some changes.
Reports from various competitions have been compiled
since Simon handed over the site and these can be found in the archive
section. However, there are some events and achievements that deserve
special mentions:
At the Western Counties Championships, held in
June and involving several of our swimmers, Sophie Feboul had an
outstanding swim, to achieve, to the hundredth of a second, a National
Qualifying time. She later competed in the National
Age Group Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
At the end of July, five swimmers from the club
were representing England at the World Friendship Games in the Netherlands,
read the preview
and the report.
Gary Carpenter continued to progress his channel
swimming ambitions, crossing the English Channel as part of the
six strong Western
Counties relay team. The highlight of many of his swims this
season including the ASA Open Water Championships.
The annual Club
Championships were held in November with some very good competition
resulting in 17 Championship Best Times being set.
The year finished with the final
round of the Speedo League, where we found ourselves in a closely
fought battle to remain in Division 2.
All stories are accesible in this News section
of the site, follow the sidelinks for the most recent stories, or
