Several Clevedon swimmers performed with distinction
at the prestigious Weston Super Mare Easter Open (15th & 16th
April). They competed against clubs from as far afield, and as good
as, City of Sheffield. Star performers were George Harris who came
second overall in the 10 year old boys age group, Amber Summerell
who won the gold in the 11 year old girls 200m breaststroke, Megan
Prideaux got a silver in the 100m backstroke and a bronze in the
200m backstroke for 14 year old girls and Stephanie Reynolds who
had bronze medals in both the 50m Fly and 100m IM events for 10
year old girls.
George bagged 5 top 4 finishes on the way to his
overall silver and had a great weekend. Rachel Aldington, Steve
Bowen, Sophie Feboul and Ellena Ibal also managed top 6 placings.
PB's were achieved by Hayley Burston, Sophie Feboul,
George Harris, Rosemary Harris, Heather Jones, Tom Jones, Chelsie
Kirman, Megan Prideaux, Stephanie Reynolds, Vicky Smith and Amber
Summerell.
This is one of the biggest meets in the West of
England and Clevedon Swimming Club is now starting to develop a
very strong squad with strength in depth and talent at all age groups
- from the youngest through to the oldest. Results in this Open,
against some of the best age group swimmers in the country, bodes
well for the future.
