An injury hit Clevedon squad competed in a special
invitational gala hosted by Bristol Henleaze on Saturday 9th September.
Considering the standard of the opposition, they did extremely well
in this first gala of the new season. Most of the squad were swimming
for the first time at the new 8 lane pool at Horfield Leisure Centre
which is a most impressive new venue and a dramatic improvement
on the old Bristol North facility.
Keynsham were the pre meet favourites as they
fielded a team that competes in the Speedo Premier Division and
included several swimmers who have swum for Great Britain in recent
junior international meets. It just showed how strong the competition
was when they were beaten by a determined and talented Stroud team!

Harry Thornton, George Harris and Laura Neal were
the only Clevedon swimmers to win individual events, which just
emphasises the quality of the event and makes their achievement
all the more impressive.
Bethan Clinton, Harry Thornton (2), Will Powell,
Steve Bowen (2), Laura Neal, Andrew Payne, Sophie Feboul, Dan Lewis,
Heather Jones, Hayley Burston and Adam Ollis all set new Personal
Best Times.
