Over the weekends of 30th September/1st Ocotber
and 7th & 8th October a select group of junior Clevedon swimmers
performed with great distinction at the Bristol North Open Meet
at Hutton Moor in Weston Super Mare. 29 PB's were recorded in individual
events and the following swimmers reached finals: George Harris
(3), Laura Neal, Sophie Feboul (3), Amber Summerell, Stephanie Reynolds
and Bethan Clinton. Sophie picked up the Silver medal in the 12yr
old girls 100m Butterfly and Bronze in the 100m Freestyle. George
took Silver in the 11 yr old boys Butterfly. Amber took Silver in
the 12 yr old girls 100m Breaststroke where no fewer than 3 Clevedon
swimmers made the final!
The Bristol North is a prestigious event for younger
swimmers and several swimmers were present who compete on the National
stage. It was all the more pleasing that Clevedon did so well against
this level of competition.
On top of the individual events Clevedon shone
in the relays and took some major scalps. 2nd places went to Ben
Horner, Andrew Payne, George Harris and Tom Jones in the 11yr boys
Medley Relay and 2nd in the Freestyle Relay with Patrick Trower
coming in for Andrew. Elliot Poulter, Ben Horner, Lee Hicks and
Matthew Bray came 3rd in the 10 yr boys Medley Relay and 2nd in
the Freestyle relay. Amber Summerell, Rosemary Harris Sophie Hicks
and Sophie Feboul came 3rd in the 12 yr girls Freestyle Relay and
2nd in the Medley Relay with Bethan Clinton coming in for Amber.
Overall the club came 2nd in the top girls club
and 3rd overall. Sophie Feboul was runner up in the Top 12 yr old
girl classification.
