News: Weston Easter Open and Modern Pentahlon World Cup

Weston Super Mare Easter Open

Clevedon swimmers were in fine form over the Easter weekend at the annual Weston Open. This is a premier competition and teams came from as far afield as City of Sheffield and Jersey. The best of the squad's results came from Amber Summerell with a gold medal in the 100m Breaststroke, a gold in the 200m Breaststroke and a silver in the 200m Individual Medley. Geoge Harris picked up a silver in the 50m Freestyle.

The following swimmers picked up top 8 places which was magnificent given the standard of the competition: Steve Bowen (2), Matthew Bray (2), Bethan Clinton, Sophie Feboul, George Harris (2), Ellena Ibal, Tom Jones, Laura Neal, Megan Prideaux, Stef Reynolds (6) and Amber Summerell (3). 19 Personal Best Times were achieved, which is remarkable coming so close on the heels of the Somerset County Championships which saw the team gain a record total of PB's. PB's came from: Steve Bowen, Matthew Bray, Hayley Burston, George Harris (2), Sophie Hicks (2), Tom Jones (3), Chelsie Kirman, Laura Neal (2), Megan Prideaux, Stef Reynolds (4) and Amber Summerell.

Modern Pentathlon World Cup

Two of Clevedon's finest participated at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup at Millfield School at the weekend! Mo Hutchinson and Graham Feboul were drafted in as Timekeepers for the swimming portion of the competition and had a most enjoyable time seeing another sport, at the highest level, from a close distance. Graham sat and passed a Swimming Judge examination that gave him international accreditation to officiate at any Modern Pentathlon in the World. Bejiing here we come!
