The weekend of 28th & 29th April saw Clevedon
swimmers take a club record haul of medals from an Open competition.
So strong was the team that one parent from another club was heard
to complain that it wasn't fair that they were allowed to compete!
The event was the Avalon Open Meet held at Millfield School. A Level
3 competition that attracted swimmers from across the south and
west of England and from Wales.
Clevedon swimmers took a staggering 68 top 6 placings,
the highlights being: Gold medals for Sophie Feboul, George Harris
(3), Sophie Hicks, Ellena Ibal (2), Tom Jones, Chelsie Kirman (2),
Laura Neal, Amber Summerell (3) and Elizabeth Warnes. Silvers for
Steve Bowen (3), Bethan Clinton, George Harris, Ellena Ibal (2),
Chelsie Kirman (2), Stef Reynolds and Amber Summerell. Bronze medals
went to Steve Bowen (3), Hayley Burston, Bethan Clinton, George
Harris, Tom Jones (4), Chelsie Kirman, Megan Prideaux and Stef Reynolds.
Chelsie Kirman had a brilliant day, backing up
her medals in individual events with the overall award for top 13
yr old girl. Chelsie is improving dramatically and really starting
to make a name for herself. Clevedon also took the under 11yr boys
trophy through George Harris, who demonstrated his great potential
at this meet. Clevedon as a team came second only to Chard, despite
having much fewer swimmers involved and took some notable scalps
on the day.
98 PB's were achieved from 22 swimmers.
Those achieving PB's and not mentioned above were: Danielle Appleford,
Jenni Gilbert, Rosemary Harris, Lee Hicks, Heather Jones, Suzannah
King, Ruby Lynch, Adam Ollis, Rebecca Parsons and Tom Riddell.
