News: Cotswold B Final

The 'B' final of the Cotswold league was held on Saturday May 12th at Keynsham and, for the second year in a row, Clevedon won the Cotswold B Shield. Clevedon were pushed hard from the start by a talented Backwell team and it wasn't until the relays started that Clevedon's strength in depth started to take them away. Many of the Clevedon squad are only eligible to swim relays in the Cotswold Series due to Clevedon's status in the Speedo League. Once these swimmers started to swim, Clevedon were able to dominate and eventually win by a 15 point margin. Final Positions were:

Clevedon 215
Backwell 200
Norton Radstock 182
Wellington 170
Cirencester 163
Burnham 162

Individual race victories came from Vicky Smith (2), Jamie Gould, Bethan Clinton (2), Katie Lee, Elizabeth Warnes, Rebecca Parsons and India Thomas (2). Relay wins went to Elliot Poulter, Ben Horner, Tom Jones, Matthew Bray, Rosemary Harris, Sophie Hicks (2), Rebecca Parsons (2), Chelsie Kirman (2), Ellena Ibal (4), Hayley Burston (3), Jenni Gilbert (4), Megan Prideaux (4), Will Powell, Harry Thornton, Sam thornton, Dan Lewis, Lisa Hutchinson, Bethan Clinton, Joe Iles, Dave Stewart, Jamie Gould and Steve Bowen.

PB's were gained on the night by: Evey Carpenter, Bethan Clinton, Lisa Hutchinson, Nick Kelly (2), Suzannah King, Katie Lee, Adam Ollis, Rebecca Parsons, Elliot Poulter, Vicky Smith, India Thomas, Liam Wakefield (2) and Elizabeth Warnes.

Some of the senior swimmers were swimming for the last time for Clevedon before leaving for University and they all performed extremely well in their last gala. Katie Lee smashed her 100m Backstroke PB in winning her race, going out the with the same style and class that she has always shown for the club. Lisa Hutchinson took 1.47 seconds off her 100m Breastroke time and Jamie Gould helped the Men's open relay team to victory, both will be sorely missed . It was a fitting occasion to say goodbye to these legends.
