News: Cotswold Round 2

Clevedon Swimming Club hosted the latest round of the Cotswold series at Strode Road on Saturday 9th February and triumphed in the water and in the organisation of the gala. Things ran like clockwork from a swimming and an organisational point of view.

After a close start, Clevedon gradually pulled away and finished comfortably in first place:

Clevedon 160
Backwell 136
Wells & Shepton Mallet 135
Lydney 86

Backwell swimming club also did very well and managed to pip Wells and Shepton Mallet by 1 point to finish second. Clevedon's victory was largely due to a near perfect performance from the girl's races, the boys had a much more even tussle with the other clubs.

Individual race winners were: Abi Sudol, Sam Thornton, Bethan Clinton, Patrick Riddell, Rebecca Parsons (2), Bethan Clark, Rachel Aldington (2), William Mathias (2) and Danielle Appleford. Relay winning swimmers were: Guy Prideaux (2), William Mathias (2), Matt Bray (2), Patrick Riddell (2), Jack DeViell (2), Ben Horner (2), Patrick Trower (2), Tom Jones (2), Sophie Fisher (2), Bethan Clinton, India Thomas (2), Kelly Waygood (2), Megan Prideaux (2), Rachel Aldington (2), Jenni Gilbert (2), Hayley Burston (2), Danielle Appleford, Laura Neal, Rebecca Parsons, Emily Harden and Charlotte Ellis.
Winning 9 of the available 16 relay races helped Clevedon immensely and demonstrated the squads strength in depth.

Danielle Appleford, Bethan Clark, Jack DeViell, Charlotte Ellis (2), Matthew Ford (2), Rosemary Harris, Nick Kelly (2), Dan Lewis, Rebecca Parsons, Andrew Payne, Abi Sudol, Sam Thornton and Kelly Waygood set new PB's on the night. Jack DeViell's was a massive 4 seconds off his 50m Freestyle and Rebecca Parsons fairly sizzled throught the water with a new 50m Freestyle time that is getting very close to the 30 second barrier.
